  • Italian police arrest 14 in hacker probe - Italian police have arrested 14 suspected hackers who are accused of thousands of computer intrusions, including attacks on the U.S. Army and Navy and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Upon carrying out search warrants, police also said they discovered several hundred pirated DVDs, which were allegedly being distributed by the suspects. The individuals kept the illegally copied DVD content on university servers that they had cracked, alleges the Guardia di Finanza.
  • A mysterious shift in Earth's gravity - Something strange has been going on under our feet for the past four years. Earth's gravity field suddenly shifted gears and began getting flatter, reversing a course of centuries during which the planet and its gravity field grew rounder each year.

  • Apple cuts iMac prices in U.K. - The low-end model now sells for 1,149 pounds ($1,792.53), a 100-pound price cut. The mid-range version, which comes with a combination drive that can burn CDs and play DVD movies, now sells for 1,349 pounds ($2,104.55), a 50-pound price cut
  • Bitboys Strike Back - Finish's Bitboys were showing their hardware (do you remember Glaze3D announcement in dec 2001?) - which may even be called Avalanche 3D - at Assembly 2002 a 3D demo scene party in Helsinki Finland. The pictures seem to show one, maybe two different chips from Bitboys. The cards are protected by plastic casings and are not in use. Some cables are indeed connected but the cards were not plugged in an AGP port. There is no heatsink on the chips. From what can be gathered it looks like their are some 7ns SRAM chips on the board.
