- T-Mobile picks up Pocket PC device - T-Mobile's
Pocket PC Phone Edition combines cell phone and organizer features as well as voice
and data capabilities, which will let customers wirelessly surf the Web and send and
receive e-mail. The device will cost $550, but T-Mobile is offering a $50 rebate on the
device for the next 45 days for subscribers who agree to a one-year service contract. The
device runs on T-Mobile's GSM (global system for mobile communications) and GPRS (general
packet radio service) wireless networks.
- U.S. Tests Robots in Afghanistan - Hermes the robot edged its way into the dark cave, its treads spinning over the
dust and small rocks until a boulder appeared in its path. No problem. The tiny machine
dropped its side arms, lifted onto and over the boulder, and rolled on, its two cameras
sending images to an operator waiting outside.
- Man forced to withdraw penis from eBay - Hardly one hour elapsed

- IBM Unveils N.Y. Chip-Making Plant - IBM Corp. unveiled what was
believed to be the world's most advanced chip-making plant Wednesday, promising 1,000 new
jobs and a boost to the upstate economy. The $2.5 billion, 140,000-square-foot facility
currently makes the prototype cutting-edge chips and was expected to reach full production
by February 2. The plant also will be the first to
mass produce circuits thinner than 0.1 micron, or 1,000 times thinner than a human
hair. The old standard was 0.25 microns, with some chips now at 0.18 microns.
- DivX for the Zaurus - theKompany has released yet another application
for the GNU/Linux-based Sharp Zaurus SL-5500, this time a DivX video player named
tkcVideo. The program supports video files encoded using MPEG 1, MPEG 2, MPEG 4 (DivX),
MJPEG, or AVI files, and accompanying audio streams in mp1, mp2, and mp3 format.

- Windows 2000 SP3 Setup Error Message - When you apply Windows
2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on a debug version of Windows 2000 that has been upgraded to
Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you
may receive the following error message: The Application failed to
initialize properly (0x80000003). Click on OK to terminate the application.
- Blue Screen of Death hits SP3 installs - The Inquirer has heard
now of three occasions
where the SP3 install caused a local ruckus.
- OpenSSH trojaned! - Overnight it
was realised that the tarball for OpenSSH 3.4p1 on the main openBSD (ftp.openbsd.org) mirror was compromised,
after developers noticed that the checksum of the package had changed.
- WinAMP 3 Build 485 - A new beta build (changelog)
of the most famous mp3 player WinAMP3 has been released.
- Gainward ExperTool v3.00 - Gainward have released a new version
of their ExperTool v3.00.
- D-Force xPower Game 30.82 Win2K/XP Drivers - Azrael has finished modding
the
latest 30.82 beta Nvidia drivers to support GeForce4 440 Go and Quadro4 500 GoGL.
