- Intel Chip Guru to Retire - Albert Yu, who led Intel Corp.'s
development of microprocessors from the 386 through the Pentium 4, is retiring
Sept. 5 after nearly 30 years with the chipmaker. Yu joined Intel in 1972, only one
year after the company introduced its first microprocessor, the 4004, a 4-bit chip
featuring 2,300 transistors. In the following years, Yu oversaw dramatic technological
advancements that enabled the creation of ever smaller and faster processors. His tenure
overseeing the processor unit culminated with the release of a 1.5GHz Pentium 4 with 42
million transistors in November 2000.

- Rayovac's New 1-Hour NiMH Charger - Rayovac
seems to be addressing the issue with their Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries and
their new 1
Hour Charger. The batteries themselves are a good leap ahead of the old Alkaline
batteries and even the rechargeable Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) batteries. How so? First,
Rayovac is claiming that these NiMH's will last 2 times longer than any alkaline battery
out there, including the "premium" brands such as the Duracell Ultra M3,
Energizer e2, etc. and six times longer than a standard Duracell battery. Second, these
batteries won't take a memory set and can be recharged up to 1000 times.

- Zoom Player 2.70 RC1 - Zoom Player
works in two modes. A Media mode which can play any file supported by DirectShow (any file
which plays in MediaPlayer) and a DVD mode which uses pre-installed DirectShow DVD filters
to play DVD content.
