- Gates Testifies in Antitrust Suit - Bill Gates is testifying
today in the Microsoft antitrust case.
- Microsoft revs speech app for cars - The software company's latest speech software
will be the interface that developers can use to access Microsoft's Windows CE for
Automotive 3.5 operating system.
- Modem talks two wireless languages - A U.S. company on Monday
unveiled its version of a modem that can automatically switch
between an 802.11 wireless network and wireless Internet services from commercial
carriers.
- Intel slashes Mobile PIII prices - The 1.2GHz part falls 21 per cent down
the price ladder from $508 to $401. The 1.13GHz PII-M tumbles 27 per cent from $401 to
$294; the 1.06GHz model falls 18 per cent from $294 to $241; and the 1GHz also drop 18 per
cent from $241 to $198. All parts are supplied with 512k cache and are manufactured using
the 0.13micron process.
- Robot cameras 'will predict crimes before they happen -
Scientists at Kingston University in London have developed
software able to anticipate if someone is about to mug an old lady or plant a bomb at
an airport. It works by examining images coming in from close circuit television cameras
(CCTV) and comparing them to behaviour patterns that have already programmed into its
memory. The software, called Cromatica, can then mathematically work out what is likely to
happen next. And if it is likely to be a crime it can send a warning signal to a security
guard or police officer.
- Z-Cyber Cool Disk USB Flash Drive Review - A
single 384M COOL DISK can hold up data equivalent to 267pcs floppy diskettes. With
universal support from Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, MAC OS 8.6+, Linux, you can bring and
access your data anywhere in the world with PCs that has USB ports. What's more! The
password protection prevents unauthorized access to your valuable data.
- Pentium4 vs. AMD AthlonXP - PC Rivals has written a comparison
review between Pentium4 against AMD AthlonXP.
- Creative PC-CAM 600 Review - Creative boasts 1.3 MegaPixel shots, but this is done by interpolation
only. Default capture resolution is 1024x768, but the camera allows for both 1280x960
(1.3 MegaPixels) and 640x480 shots as well. Video resolution maxes out at 640x480 when
used as a webcam, and 352x288 when used as a video recorder. To store all these pictures,
16MB of on-board memory is included. Unfortunately, there's no external expansion on the
camera, so you're stuck with 16MB.
- GeForce cooling mods - This is where we create the heatsinks to
stick on the card. I generally only use two full size Socket A coolers, however
this time I used three!
- Innovatek Water-cooling Kit - Simple, lack of knowledge about
procedure which leads to fear and cost, are the two most prevalent reasons. What if you could buy a
water-cooling kit that contained everything you needed, that came with simple to
understand instructions, and that was easy to use and install? A German manufacturer had
this same thought, and designed the Innovatek water-cooling system.
- Chaintech GeForce3 Ti200SE 128MB Review - With the GeForce 4
cards finally making a big splash in the scene, the old venerable GeForce 3's are still hanging around, dropping in price
like mad. NVIDIA would like you to think that their GeForce4MX line is the product to get
for lower end performance, but we all know that the GeForce 3 Ti200 is what it's all
about. Read about this Special Edition Ti200 by Chaintech, which includes a full 128MB of
RAM on a card that is just too nice to cover up with a PC case.
- Leadtek A250 Ti4400 Review - I got my grubby little hands on
their Ti4400
based card, the A250 TD, and have been busy the last few weeks putting it through its
paces. In contrast to some of my other more lucky associates on this site, this is my
first Geforce 4 based card which means I was extra curious about what improvements I
would see over my Ti500.
- New Patches for Windows XP - XP Patch (Q306676) Direct3D Hibernate/Screen Saver and Hard
Disk (SCSI) Performance Is Slower Than You Expect (Q308219).

games.
- Nero Express v5.5.7.7 (beta) - Nero

Burning ROM. The idea is to make sure that the user will easily select the right settings
for each burning process, and proceed to recording within a few -step process.
- Opera 6.02 Build 1087 - Just another beta.
- MCF-CD Maker - With this tool you can create an MCF-CD
(Ingo's version) which is a CD/XA ISO bridge type CD, containing files in Mode2/Form2
(i.e. the same as VCD). This way you can benefit from the greater storage space VCD offers
(800 MB in a single 80 min. CD), but with other files, not just MPEG.
- WinDivX decoder v2002.16.04 alpha - It operates with
Div3(aka MS MPEG-4 v3 or DivX 3.X), DivX4; download

support, Multipage TIFF support, and Multiple ICO support.
- Winamp Visualization Plug-in Smoke v1.04 (final) - Smoke is a Winamp plug-in
that generates rich and lively audio-driven visuals through the simulation of fluid
dynamics.

(well, there is t31 but scroll down and check the version history). (Mirror: MajorGeeks)
- SpeedFan v4.05 - SpeedFan is a freeware program that monitors fan speeds and
temperatures in computers with a known monitoring chip. Its main feature is that it can
control the speed of the fans according to the temperatures inside your pc, thus reducing
noise and power consumption. Currently the only recognized (and useful) chips are WINBOND
W83782D, which is found in ABIT BP6, and WINBOND W83627HF.

| Comments from Erboz | posted - 05:49 AM CEST - Apr,23 2002 | | Hehehe :) Perhaps they should have launched that lame X-Box at even higher prices, nobody is willing to spend so much for a box that will be *OLD* in 1 year.......... There's still a LOT to learn for MicrosuXX & company.
Better luck next time, cheap bastards ! ;) | | The old comment system has been replaced. Use the regular FORUMS!
