- Experts: Chat rooms a haven for hackers - Computer security
expert Chad Harrington regularly surfs Internet Relay Chat (IRC), one of the oldest chat technologies
on the Web. The IRC networks have names like Dalnet and EFnet, but he agrees that another
name works just as well: eBay for hackers.
- Europe rejects Internet content 'blocking' - The European
Parliament has voted
overwhelmingly to oppose the use of "blocking" as a way of regulating
content on the Internet. The vote (460 in favour, 0 against and 3 abstentions) this
morning means that ISPs will not be forced to restrict access to Web sites. Instead, they
have been given the green light to continue with self-regulation.
- Win-XP Search Assistant silently downloads files - A little over
a week ago, while searching for a file on a Windows-XP machine, I was surprised to see the
Search Assistant
attempting to activate my Internet connection. It puzzled me because I wasn't
searching the Internet, only my local drive.
- Will we see OSX on x86? - It's not an exaggeration to say that the decision of whether
or not to port OSX may be one of the most important Apple makes this decade-perhaps
even rivaling Apple's much-debated decision to not allow Mac clones.
- Nomad Jukebox v3.0 Pictures - T-Break has
posted some pictures from the Creative Nomad Jukebox v3.0.
- Abit AT7 (KT333) Review - Giant leap or baby step, one thing is
for certain, the AT7, Abit's first board in the MAX lineup, is definitely one of
the most unique boards you'll see today. The AT7 uses the newest, fastest chipset for the
Athlon platform, VIA's KT333. KT333 supports most of the newest features you'll need, such
as native ATA/133 hard drives, onboard 5.1 audio with digital output, support for DDR333
SDRAM, and more. Abit takes that one step further, and adds a ton of integrated components
intended for the next generation of computing. This includes both FireWire AND USB2.0
controller, a 4 channel ATA/133 RAID adapter (making for an unprecedented support of 10
ATA drives onboard), onboard 10/100 LAN, and MediaXP support.
- ABIT BD7-RAID Review - VR-Zone has writen a review of the
ABIT BD7-RAID board based on Intel 845D chipset.
- Pentium 4 Northwood Review - Because the multiplier of every
Pentium4 CPU is hard locked, Intel leaves you with nothing but the Front Side Bus to crank
up the core speed of their CPUs. The multiplier of our 2.2GHz Northwood sample is locked
at 22x just as it is on all retail 2.2GHz P4 CPUs. It's time to fresh up your math folks :
22 x 100MHz FSB = 2200MHz or 2.2GHz. Now, we have increased the 100MHz stock FSB to a sweet 118MHz using our
BD7-RAID motherboard. This increase of FSB speed forces the P4 2.2GHz run at 22 x 118MHz
or 2600MHZ or no less than an impressive 2.6GHz!
- GeForce 4 MX Overview - Unlike the Titanium cards, which are
based off NV25 technology, the MX is based on NV17 technology. Consider that the GeForce 3
is based on NV20 tech, and the GeForce 2 on NV15, you'll see where this is
going.
- GF4 Ti 4600 Review - With the stock cooling we could
reach 347/765MHZ on this card! Once again an impressive overclock on a Leadtek card. This
is now the third card we review from Leadtek and once again it's a
great overclocker.
- Style XP 1.0 - Style XP is not a skinning engine. It uses Microsoft's built-in visual
style engine, but enhances it by providing many useful tools. Style XP can import, select,
rotate, and manage Themes, Visual Styles, Wallpaper, and Logons. Future versions may
support sounds, cursors, screensavers, and packages of all the above.
- WinTasks Prossional 4 Review - Introducing WinTask Professional 4 from LIUtilties - a turbocharged Task Manager
for Windows that offers greater resource management, improved computer security, as well
as optimization and debugging utilities.
- 7-Zip 2.30 Beta 19 - This new
version adds support for RAR 3.0 archives.
- PowerStrip v3.16 beta build 271 - PowerStrip 3.16
provides advanced, multi-monitor, programmable hardware support to a wide range of
graphics cards - from the venerable Matrox Millennium I to the latest Radeon 8500DV and
GeForce4 Ti4600. It is in fact the only program of its type to support multiple graphics
cards from multiple chipset vendors, simultaneously, under every Windows operating system
from Windows 95 to XP.
- CloneCD 4.0 Beta 17 - Just another beta
:)
- GeForce Tweak 3.2t31 - Johannes Tuemler has just released version 3.2t31 Beta
of his extremely popular GeForce overclocker/tweaker.

capture and processing program that features fast capturing, process files larger
than the 2 gigabyte limit, optimized for linear editing, support for Motion-JPEG, MPEG-1
video and layer 3 audio, real-time and near-realtime video processing, video job queues,
and much more.

a leaked final
version 3.2 (though Trial only) of WinDVD.

designed to allow users of the WinDVD playback software to enable some hidden settings and
