  • 7 Years of Graphics - This article should really be called "7 Years of 3D Graphics" because 3D acceleration seemed a suitable starting point. For this reason I decided to chart the endeavors of those companies that have produced 3D graphical processors. Some of these have also produced their own boards, but to cover all of the board manufactures would be too great an undertaking. For this reason most of the images in this article refer to the chip used and not the board name.
  • Verizon Sets Wireless Data Price Plans - Targeted primarily for the enterprise market, the rate plans start at US$35 per month for 10 MB -- the equivalent of thousands of e-mails or hundreds of Web pages -- and increase to $55 per month for 20 MB, with fees available for up to 150 MB of data, Verizon Wireless said. Business customers will pay the set amount, regardless of download times.
  • AMD Athlon XP 2100+ Processor Review - Since we have reviewed the 1800+, 1900+ and 2000+ previously, the Athlon XPT 2100+ did not shock us with its grocery list of features/ specs. In recent days, however, there is one specification listed that has warranted much attention, and that is the use of the 0.18-micron manufacturing process. Intel has already made the leap to 0.13-micorn, and AMD will soon be following close behind with the AthlonXP 2200+.
  • 100GB WD 1000JB 7200 rpm Special Edition Review - Until recently, if you wanted the fastest EIDE drive on the market, IBM's Deskstar 60GXP series were the drives to get. Not content with their Caviar series of EIDE drives taking second place, Western Digital decided to take the speed crown by introducing the first ever EIDE drive to feature an 8 megabyte buffer, the 100 gigabyte WD 1000JB Special Edition. It is an enhanced version of their regular Caviar series 1000BB. The JB model features the 8MB buffer, up from 2MB on the standard drive.
  • SiS645DX Chipset Performance Review - SiS645DX chipset is one of the highlight by SiS at CeBIT where this chipset will provide 533Mhz support for Pentium 4 and of course DDR333 support as well. VR-Zone has a chance to take a look at the SIS645DX reference board from SiS and we have evaluated its performance under DDR266, DDR333 and even DDR400 modes. More interestingly, we have tested out the 533Mhz FSB support on this chipset by using a 533Mhz P4 2.4Ghz (18x133) processor.
  • Shuttle AK35GTR KT266A Motherboard Review - Coupled with a VIA KT266A Northbridge chipset, and the integration of the Highpoint ATA133 RAID controller, the AK35GTR is an outstanding performer in every aspect. Supporting upto 4GB of DDR memory and 6-channel onboard surround sound, no wonder why the AK35GTR is such great value!
