- A Linux guy looks at FreeDOS - FreeDOS
was a project started in 1994 to counteract Microsoft's stated intentions to do away with
MS-DOS and move everyone to Windows. It employs no Microsoft code and is designed to be a
work-alike equivalent to MS-DOS. FreeDOS does not guarantee that it does everything the
same way MS-DOS does, but it attempts to get it all done nonetheless. The specification for FreeDOS is derived from public documentation
describing MS-DOS. It is still in beta test, but the system is quite usable. Currently,
FreeDOS is at version Ripcord Beta 7, aka "SPEARS."
- Microsoft must give states Windows code - Microsoft will have to supply the computer code for its Windows program to a
group of states seeking stiffer antitrust sanctions against the software giant, a federal
judge ruled Friday.

- Windows Messenger v4.6.0076 (WinXP) - MSN Messenger is an instant-messaging program that notifies you when
your friends are online so you can send messages or chat with several friends at once. In
addition, MSN Messenger notifies you when you have new e-mail in your Hotmail account and
allows you to access your inbox with the click of a button. This minor version includes
only some fixes.
- BearShare v2.4.3 - BearShare is
designed to let you share files with everyone on the Internet, and download files that
other people are sharing. The latest release in the 2.4 series, this version of BearShare
offers some interface changes, such as the addition of a "find more sources"
option.
- LimeWire v2.2.0 Beta - LimeWire is a
software package which enables individuals to search for and share computer files with
anyone on the internet. LimeWire is compatible with the Gnutella file-sharing protocol and
can connect with anyone else running Gnutella-compatible software. At startup, the

tools. Style XP can import, select, rotate, and manage Themes, Visual Styles, Wallpaper,
and Logons. Future versions may support sounds, cursors, screensavers, and packages of all
the above.
