Blizzard Ran WoW Forever on 251 TB of RAM - briefly|
| (hx) 02:45 PM CET - Nov,07 2026 |
Blizzard revealed the massive infrastructure behind the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever.
The official World of Warcraft account posted that the game ran on 3,924 virtual machines with 251,136 GB of memory and 70,480 CPU cores. That works out to roughly 251 terabytes of RAM, or about 64 GB per virtual machine.
Players widely reported almost no login queues, disconnects, or lag on launch night. Multiple outlets called it one of the smoothest Blizzard launches in years.
Executive Producer and Vice President Holly Longdale posted that the launch was “crazier than the insanity we imagined,” and praised the team’s planning and contingencies.
World of Warcraft: Forever launched globally on November 4, 2026. It is a new version of the original Azeroth with new content, included with a standard WoW subscription.
