Noctua Brings Carbon Nanotube Pads That Improve Over Time - tech|
| (hx) 02:25 PM CET - Nov,07 2026 | Noctua and Carbice have partnered to sell carbon nanotube thermal pads as a replacement for traditional CPU thermal paste.
The first product is the NT-CP1 AM5/4, sized for AMD Ryzen processors on AM5 and AM4 sockets. It uses vertically aligned carbon nanotubes on an aluminum backbone with a thin polymer coating.
Unlike paste that dries out or pumps away, the companies say the pad’s heat transfer improves over hundreds of thermal cycles as the nanotubes settle into surface imperfections.
The same technology has been used in satellites, aerospace systems, and AI infrastructure. Noctua is the exclusive retail distributor for the DIY market.
The NT-CP1 was shown at Computex 2026 and is scheduled to launch in September 2026. Pricing has not been officially confirmed.
