NVIDIA Confirms GeForce 621.01 Bug: Video Freezes and Black Screens - tech|
| (hx) 03:34 PM CET - Oct,26 2026 |
NVIDIA has confirmed a bug in its new GeForce Game Ready Driver 621.01, released on October 21, 2026.
Users report that video playback freezes or the screen goes black for several seconds in Chrome, Edge, and VLC.
The issue also appears in some gaming scenarios, with the most reports coming from RTX 5080 owners and a smaller number from RTX 4090 systems.
An NVIDIA representative registered the problem as a bug on the official forums on October 23 and requested crash dumps for investigation.
No hotfix or fix date has been announced.
Most affected users say rolling back to the earlier driver 617.42 (released October 6) stops the freezes.
