Windows 11 Universal Print Broken for Months - tech|
| (hx) 04:38 PM CET - Oct,25 2026 | Microsoft confirmed a long-running bug in Windows 11 Universal Print.
Printers that were set up on Windows 10 can stop working after the April 2026 update KB5083769 or later. Users see the error “Your printer has experienced an unexpected configuration problem. 0x80004005” and the Print button stays disabled.
Microsoft says the problem affects these upgraded devices and is not fixed by moving to Windows 11 26H2.
The only current workarounds are to remove and re-add the printers, or run Microsoft’s Convert-UpPrinterToPerUser.ps1 script to switch them to per-user mode. Admins have had to apply the manual fix for months.
