OpenCritic: ~87 (100% of critics recommend)
Modern Warfare 4 is being called a strong return to form for the series — the best-reviewed Call of Duty in roughly 15 years (since the original Modern Warfare 3 in 2011).
Critics praise the full package: a cinematic, emotionally heavy campaign that many call one of the best in the franchise, solid and fresh multiplayer, and a well-executed DMZ extraction mode. Several outlets (TechRadar, Windows Central, GameRant) gave it perfect or near-perfect scores, highlighting tight gunplay, strong presentation, and Infinity Ward delivering when given a full development cycle.
Minor criticisms exist - some wanted it to be bolder, and the story has a few shaky moments —-but there are currently no negative reviews. Early Steam player feedback has also been very positive.
Verdict: One of the strongest Call of Duty entries in years. If you like the series, this is an easy recommendation.
