Capcom Confirms Massive Capcom ID Breach - briefly|
| (hx) 12:20 PM CEST - Oct,22 2026 | Capcom confirmed unauthorized third-party access to its CAPCOM ID online membership service. More than 11.7 million accounts worldwide were affected.
The leaked data includes email addresses plus account creation dates, last login times, login counts, and the IP addresses used for the most recent logins. In 43 cases, extra personal details such as dates of birth, gender, country or region, and nicknames were also exposed.
Attackers changed the passwords on 196 accounts without permission. Capcom states the original customer-set passwords were not leaked, and those 196 accounts have already been reset. No credit card information was affected.
The company detected the suspicious activity on October 19, blocked it the same day, and later reported the incident to police and Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission. Capcom says all games and CAPCOM ID services remain fully operational.
