4TB Samsung 990 Pro Drops 27% to 20 Cents Per Gigabyte - tech
(hx) 09:25 AM CEST - Oct,22 2026
The popular 4TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2 SSD has fallen 27% in price, dropping from $1,099 to $799.90 on Amazon.

That works out to roughly 20 cents per gigabyte of storage, a notable discount in a market where SSD prices have stayed high because of strong AI and memory demand.

The drive remains one of the fastest PCIe Gen 4 options available, with sequential speeds up to 7,450 MB/s read and 6,900 MB/s write.

It is rated for 2,400 TBW endurance and comes in a single-sided M.2 2280 form factor that fits most laptops and desktops.

Tom’s Hardware calls it a strong choice for large game libraries and everyday high-performance storage even though newer PCIe 5.0 drives exist.

The current deal is available at Amazon and represents a solid saving of over $300 from the recent higher price.

it's overpriced by a 50% then overvalued by 200% more and 27% less now is "good deal"? No.

Correct.
Everybody 'normalizes' a price 'drop' on artificially inflated HW as a success.

If my WD Black, that i bought because prices were increasing stupidly, went from £300+ to £195 in a 'sale'. Then it's not a sale. I bought it for £95 direct from WD. Today, people fall for anything if it's misleadingly 'discounted'.

Stock sitting for years is helf back and tried to be sold for a huge profit cashing in on the panic buying-must get-it crowd. Once the honeymoon is over, they drop it and tempt them again.
Check the Manufacturing date when you install it, and see if it's prior to, or after the data Centre fiasco
