Windows 11 26H2 Update Makes PCs Faster and Uses Less RAM - tech|
| (hx) 12:39 PM CEST - Oct,18 2026 | The Windows 11 26H2 update has improved responsiveness and reduced idle memory use for many users without requiring any manual changes. The update includes a Low Latency Profile that temporarily boosts CPU clocks during common actions such as opening the Start menu, Search, or launching apps.
Users and tests have reported quicker UI response times and faster app launches. On one laptop, idle RAM usage dropped from roughly 8.5–9 GB to about 6.7 GB after the update. Similar reductions have been noted on other systems.
The feature first appeared in an earlier security update and was expanded in 26H2, which is delivered as an enablement package on the same servicing branch as 24H2 and 25H2. Gaming performance is unchanged. The author described it as one of the more positive Windows 11 updates in recent memory.

I highly doubt that.
Less slow might be more appropriate, thought I doubt it'd ever reach Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10 or Linux performance. | |
