Diablo 1 Fan Remake Released - briefly|
| (hx) 07:03 PM CEST - Oct,11 2026 | A fan developer has released DamnationX, an unofficial project that updates the classic 1996 Diablo with modern features. Created by Troygentic, it builds on the open-source DevilutionX engine and adds optional HD textures, dynamic lighting with ray-traced shadows, and online co-op for up to four players.
Players can try it in a web browser at damnationx.net or download a desktop version that currently works only on Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 26 or newer.
You need to provide your own legal copy of the original game’s DIABDAT.MPQ file, since no Blizzard assets are included. This early beta still has unfinished assets and animations, so bugs are expected as work continues.
The free project also lets you import sound packs from Diablo II or Diablo II: Resurrected if you own them. It offers a fresh way for fans to explore Tristram’s dungeons with upgraded visuals.
