Micro Center Asks 5090 Buyers to Sign a No-Export Form - tech
(hx) 09:18 PM CEST - Oct,02 2026
A Micro Center shopper in Tustin, California, says buying a PowerSpec PC with an RTX 5090 now means signing a paper form and showing a photo ID.

The form is titled Advanced Computing Product Purchaser Declaration. It asks for a legal name, address, phone, email, the real end user, where the hardware will be used, and what it is for. A boxed line says “NO EXPORT — NO EXCEPTIONS.”

The buyer must promise the product stays in the United States and that they are not a straw purchaser. Store staff also sign that they checked the ID. The shopper said a manager called the step new.

The photo of the form is real. Micro Center has not said the rule is in every store. Reports so far trace back to that Tustin sale and the same Reddit post.

We are living in such funny times. Show me your ID to buy this PC. I see this going well in the right direction.
