The Darkness Gets Unofficial PC Port - briefly|
| (hx) 05:44 PM CEST - Sep,29 2026 | Starbreeze’s 2007 shooter The Darkness never had an official PC release, even though The Darkness II reached Windows in 2012. A hobbyist named portingpete has now published The-Darkness-Recomp, a native Windows x64 build of the Xbox 360 version.
The project statically recompiles the 360 executable into C++ and runs it through a Direct3D 11 renderer, so it is not a live emulator. Version 0.1.2 adds 60 FPS, ultrawide, mouse look, a FOV slider, and fixes for Darkness Vision glow, shadows, and high-resolution color tint.
The GitHub download includes no game files. You need your own Xbox 360 copy and 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 with Direct3D 11.
