iPhone 18 Pro Freeze Bug Gets Apple Fix - tech

Some iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max phones freeze and then reboot after a failed Face ID check inside a locked app. Apple told 9to5Mac on 23 September 2026 that a software update for that bug is due early next week and that a store swap is not required. The phones went on sale on 18 September with iOS 27, and the glitch does not hit every unit. TechDroider posted a 27 September video of an 18 Pro home screen going black and the UI breaking up; that clip is a user demo, not an Apple advisory. Press reports guess the patch will ship as iOS 27.0.1, but Apple has not named the build. Wait for the official update rather than chasing a hardware replacement.
