AMD GPUs Crash in WoW Forever Beta - briefly|

Players on AMD Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 cards are reporting black screens, driver resets, and hard crashes in the *World of Warcraft: Forever* beta. The failures often hit after character select, when a loading screen ends and the world appears.
Forum testers on cards such as the RX 9070 XT, RX 9060 XT, RX 7900 XTX, and RX 7800 XT keep pointing to the new Secondary Lighting option. Setting it to Fair before entering the world is the most common workaround; switching from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11 has also stopped some crashes.
The beta opened September 17 and runs through October 21 ahead of the November 4 launch. Blizzard and AMD have not posted an official fix, and similar freezes have been reported on Macs using the same lighting setting. |
