Ubisoft Drops Connect Launcher on Steam - briefly|

Ubisoft is testing a way to launch its Steam games without installing or opening the Ubisoft Connect PC launcher. The first title is Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, via a new Steam tool called Ubisoft Connect Services.
Official Steam patch notes posted September 8 say the tool still keeps cross-progression, cross-play, player safety, challenges, and rewards.
Ubisoft called this first version an initial step toward a simpler Steam launch. The company says the service will roll out to more Ubisoft games on Steam later, but it has not named the next titles.
This is a trial on one game, not a shutdown of Ubisoft Connect across the whole catalog.
