Windows 11 Patch Tuesday: Record Fixes + Taskbar Back - tech|

Microsoft's 8 September 2026 Patch Tuesday ships KB5124008 / KB5122880
with a record 966 security fixes — including two actively exploited
zero-days.
Those zero-days are CVE-2026-81963 (Windows Update Stack, local SYSTEM)
and CVE-2026-85880 (ALPC heap overflow, local SYSTEM).
The same update finally restores a movable taskbar - top, left, right, or
bottom - plus a smaller bar, a resizable Start menu, and Search that
can drop Bing and Store results.
Microsoft is rolling the taskbar change in stages, so not every PC will
see it on day one.
Install via Settings -> Windows Update; this is the mandatory
September security drop, not an optional preview. |

This is a good change, they never should have taken this away.
They should also reinstate quick launch menus to the taskbar. |
