LG OLEDs Still Listen After the Screen Goes Dark - briefly|
| (hx) 05:16 PM CEST - Sep,07 2026 | Gamers Nexus, working with Level1Techs and outside researchers, published a long test of retail LG OLED sets including the G5. Packet captures showed the TVs scanning the home network for phones and watches that were not part of the test, plus nearby Wi-Fi names and signal strength.
After a voice-assistant trigger, the microphone kept capturing audio while the screen looked off, and spoken lines showed up as plain-text logs on the set.
When Ethernet was pulled, those logs stayed on the TV and went out after the cable went back in.
LG has previously said its TVs do not collect, record, or store ambient conversations; the testers say the post-command window and local transcripts cut against that comfort.
LG had not issued a fresh reply to this video at the time of the recaps.

I bet it will be revolve around "on, sorry, our engineers forgot to disable a test feature".
They may have to do a mass recall to correct it though because online connectivity is not a requirement for a TV... |
