Rockstar's Legal War Risks Alienating Fans More Than the Leaks - briefly|

Take-Two Interactive, parent of Rockstar Games, is aggressively pursuing legal action over the ongoing GTA 6 leaks.
The company has filed federal subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord seeking identifying information on accounts linked to the Cyberleek material.
Community reports also claim that ordinary gaming accounts have been restricted for simply discussing the leaks in text form.
While the leaks themselves have frustrated many players, the broad legal crackdown is drawing significant criticism for targeting everyday discussion.
Some gamers now argue this heavy-handed approach could damage Rockstar’s reputation with its own audience more than the leaked footage.
The company has not publicly commented beyond the legal filings.
"Take-Two, through its counsel of record, has submitted a sworn declaration confirming that the purpose for which the DMCA subpoena is sought is to obtain the identity of an alleged infringer or infringers, and that such information will only be used for the purpose of protecting Take-Two's rights."
Both Microsoft and Discord apparently have until 4th September - around two weeks - to produce all information related to the CyberLeek persona, which has taken credit for the GTA 6 leaks. Take-Two is seeking information "sufficient to identify the user(s) person" from Microsoft, including details like account IDs, registration emails, IP addresses, phone numbers, and linked Xbox and Google accounts.
Discord, meanwhile, has been petitioned to hand over "all user accounts that are/were members communicating with the Discord servers" such as CyberLeek, CinematicRockstar, Surfer24K, Odyssey, and DarkViperAU.

Hardly surprising. Shows your true colours: you are a greedy bully and don't care about fans.
Industry needs to learn times are changing.
Fans don't make a purchase decision when they look at the release in a digital store anymore.
Fans make decisions far before the release and there is nothing the studios can do about it.
There will always be leaks.
The best they can hope for is that when the leak happens, it will show a plan for a product fans will like. If they don't, then don't bother finishing the game.
If you think about it, shutting down projects with a "this game is shit" feedback from the fans could have saved a lot of wasted investment dollars already.
There is a catch though: if the game is moddable, fans can fix a shitty title to some extent. If not, they'll just boycott the game and it goes down the drain with very low sales figures.
At the end of the day, you are at the mercy of your fans - they can lift you up and bury you. Going after then in legal battles does not exactly inspire fans to stick it out for you, does it?
What were they thinking? lol

I've got a HUGE back catalog of games half finished so instead of wasting my money on a bloated AI infected money drain I'll go enjoy many more games till its in sale them maybe I'll get it.
I've removed volverine from my wishlist. I wont by getting it at all.
Maybe I'll download it and play it through an emulator when its good enough to play it. Till then, I wont play it. I wont buy it not from $onys choices.

Steam is doing great, xbox is still very money hungry but doing a lot better than nintendo and $ony, well they are gone. 1000% patheitc now. The portal was a complete joke, that could've been good if they unlocked it. Even PS4 remote play could've helped but its just a stupid device. I owned one for 2 weeks until they released an update and killed it.
The industry is imploding on itself. They dont want to make any good games, they just want more money. WHy do you think there are so many remakes? MONEY GRAB. Its NOT a new game, its just a money hungry publisher thats all.

micro$oft isn't doing good. Windows 11 is a flop. the forced AI is a major flop nobody asked for.
Xbox is full of AI and ads. so their console is dead. Thats why they went to cloud so they can charge for a service with no hardware and you dont own anything. THATS EXACTLY what they want.
