New AMD Chipset Driver Improves Frame Consistency in Tests - tech|
| (hx) 09:36 AM CEST - Aug,18 2026 | | AMD released Chipset Driver version 8.08.12.551 on August 14, 2026, adding support for Ryzen AI Max processors and various bug fixes. Independent tester zenkytweaks benchmarked the new drivers in Fortnite and CS2 and reported noticeably better frame consistency. In Fortnite the 0.1% lows rose from 635 to 738 fps (+16%), while average FPS stayed almost the same. In CS2 the 1% lows improved from 368 to 379 fps with virtually unchanged average performance. AMD’s official release notes only list bug fixes and new platform support, with no performance claims. The smoother lows appear to come from improved power management and scheduling rather than raw FPS gains.
