Ryzen 7 7800X3D Swelling Reported Despite Latest BIOS - tech

A Ryzen 7 7800X3D has reportedly failed with visible swelling and burn damage after three months of use.

The system used an MSI PRO X870-P WIFI motherboard running the latest available BIOS, with only EXPO enabled and no manual overclocking.

The CPU caused the system to shut down during gaming and enter a boot loop, also damaging the motherboard.

The damage resembles earlier Ryzen 7000 failures from 2023 that AMD previously addressed with SoC voltage limits.

The owner is sending the CPU through the RMA process.
