Researcher Deobfuscates Denuvo Anti-Cheat - tech

A reverse engineer has announced the successful deobfuscation of Denuvo Anti-Cheat’s kernel driver.

The work focused on the custom LLVM-based obfuscation used in `denuvo-anti-cheat.sys`, which relies on control-flow manipulation and mixed Boolean-arithmetic (MBA) techniques rather than a virtual machine.

The researcher used guided symbolic evaluation to flatten the obfuscated code and restore the original control flow.

Opaque predicates in the protection were found to be statically resolvable.

Further cleanup with an MBA simplifier is planned to improve the readability of the decompiled output.
