Microsoft Forces OneDrive Photos App - tech|

Microsoft is quietly installing a new OneDrive Photos app on Windows 11 PCs, including Enterprise editions.
The app requires a personal Microsoft account to use and cannot be removed without uninstalling OneDrive entirely. IT admins are angry because the app was not announced, does not appear on official roadmaps, and keeps returning after removal attempts.
OneDrive Photos is an Edge-based web app that duplicates existing features already available in File Explorer and the standard Photos app. It also offers an optional AI feature that groups similar faces in photos and processes facial data.
Many administrators say the forced installation is unacceptable on managed business devices.
