128GB RAM in Steam Machine Changes Nothing - tech

jayzTwoCents upgraded Valve’s Steam Machine from its stock 16GB of RAM to a full 128GB kit. The system successfully recognized the new memory after a detailed teardown and reassembly process. In gaming tests, including Cyberpunk 2077, the extra RAM delivered no meaningful performance gains. The creator concluded that 128GB is largely pointless on this hardware because the dedicated GPU remains the limiting factor. A simpler dual-channel upgrade with more moderate amounts of RAM would make more sense for most users.
