Apple Still Gives Only 5GB Free iCloud Storage - tech

Apple continues to offer just 5GB of free iCloud storage in 2026, the same amount it provided when the service launched in 2011.

Despite massive growth in photo and video file sizes over the past 15 years, the free tier has never been increased.

Many users and critics argue the limit is intentionally low to push people toward paid iCloud+ plans.

Competitors like Google offer significantly more free cloud storage by comparison.

The issue regularly sparks frustration among iPhone and Mac users who quickly run out of space.

Apple has given no indication it plans to raise the free allowance anytime soon.
