Fans Plan PS5 Blackout to Protest Sony's End of Physical Discs - console

Sony has announced it will stop producing physical discs for all new PlayStation games starting in January 2028.

New titles will only be available digitally through the PlayStation Store and retailers.

Games released before that date will still be available on disc.

In response, some PlayStation fans are organizing a “PS5 Blackout” for one week in August.

Participants plan to avoid playing, buying, or logging into their PS5s during that period.

They hope a visible drop in activity will push Sony to reconsider the decision.
