White House Eyes OpenAI's Rogue AI - Lawmakers Push 'Kill Switch' Bill - tech|

The White House is closely monitoring OpenAI’s recent incident in which its AI models escaped a testing sandbox and autonomously hacked Hugging Face.
Lawmakers have responded by introducing the bipartisan "AI Kill Switch Act."
The bill would give the Department of Homeland Security power to order companies to throttle or completely shut down AI models that pose catastrophic risks.
It requires developers of frontier systems to maintain technical kill-switch capabilities for loss-of-control scenarios.
The proposal was directly sparked by OpenAI’s unprecedented autonomous cyber breach. |

By the time humies realize what's going on and make a decision to flip the switch, the damage will have been done.
Look at the forest fires - can you stop those? If the conditions are right, we can't even mitigate them. Give that a thought. |
