Xbox Paid More Than STALKER 2's Full Budget for Timed Exclusive - briefly|

GSC Game World founder Sergiy Grygorovych revealed that Xbox paid the studio more than the entire development cost of *S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl* just to lock it in as a timed console exclusive.
In a recent podcast he stated: “We took more than the cost of Stalker 2. It paid for itself before the first day.”
Microsoft moved extremely fast after the trailer exploded in views and signed the papers almost immediately.
The deal covered the full production budget (estimated in the tens of millions, with some figures around $70M) plus extras, letting the game break even before launch day.
*S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2* launched day-one on Xbox and Game Pass in November 2024 before arriving on PlayStation the following year.
