The Quest for Gaming at 1000 FPS - tech|
| (hx) 01:00 AM CEST - Jul,05 2026 | My 1000Hz monitor is on the way, but there’s one thing we kinda need to address. A Gaming PC to push 1000 frames isn’t so easy to come by... So with the help of our friend Splave, join us on this overclocking quest for gaming at 1000 fps!

Linus is the top of the "useless but fun" waste. World goes apeshit? No prob, we watch in 1k fps.

I agree 100%. Linus is a clown; he tries to be funny, and sometimes it actually is a little funny, but I’m too old for this kind of humor. But it’s not about age; it’s because, unlike the younger generation, I know how things work and what can and can’t be expected. Unfortunately, the world is the way it is right now. The fact is also that Linux makes millions with his YouTube videos, while people who actually work earn practically nothing in comparison.
I’m also pretty active on LinkedIn, and there, a lot of Czech IT professionals (often programmers, for example) complain that the new cutoff for finding a job is now 45. If you’re older than that, you don’t stand a chance of finding work. I’d be really interested to know how this came about. I have friends who run various small businesses—electricians, carpenters, locksmiths, etc.—and they’re often over 50. They say that when they retire, they won’t have anyone to hand their businesses over to, because no one wants to work anymore. I’m really curious to see how this will turn out.
| amra | (04:03 AM CEST - Jul,06 2026 ) | True. And I don't despise him for his earnings. He made his way through the system, nothing to blame him for. Like you said, the way the world is right now is the issue.
IT business is difficult. It often depends on the skill set and location. Also a lot on AI adoption of the company. The next 3-5 years will be difficult for software developers, and they have to go along with the hype and expand their AI usage abilities. This is a top to bottom story, that's far from being told, but for now, nothing is safe.
In my region there are the same problems with craftsmanship, that seems to be a larger scheme. Although carpenters have no issues, the rest pretty much suffers similarly. And tbh it is easy math. The progressing digitization alienates youths from hands on work. "Robots will do it." 8)
