WinRAR 7.23 Released - tech

WinRAR has officially released version 7.23, thanking users for their support and payments that helped fund the development.

The new version focuses on important security fixes, including a heap overflow vulnerability in RAR5 recovery volume handling.

It also patches a symbolic link path traversal issue that could allow files to be extracted outside the intended folder.

Additional updates include improvements to the command line -iver option and an upgrade of the 7zxa.dll extraction library to version 26.02.

This is primarily a maintenance and security release rather than a feature-heavy update.
