RAM Prices Are the 'New Normal' Forever as AI Demand Outstrips Supply - briefly
(hx) 06:04 PM CEST - Jun,27 2026
Major memory manufacturers Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix have stated they cannot keep up with surging demand for DRAM and HBM chips, largely driven by AI infrastructure.

Industry reports indicate that even new fabrication plants will do little to ease the shortage in the near term, locking in higher RAM prices as the new baseline.

This has direct implications for PC gaming, where high memory costs could slow hardware upgrades and push developers toward more efficient, less graphically intensive games.

The shift may benefit the industry overall by encouraging fresher gameplay ideas and lower production costs instead of endless graphics arms races.

So, Nvidia did kill gaming in the end. Just not the way we expected.
