A fintech employee at Slash accidentally spent $81,267 in AI tokens in a single week while building a meme shooter game called 'Brainrot Shooter' using Claude.

The $1.4 billion startup had encouraged employees to use AI coding more aggressively, and Head of Strategic Verticals Nicolas Brillante took it literally.

The game features internet meme characters and surprisingly gained real traction, pulling in thousands of players and even ad inquiries within 48 hours.

Slash turned the incident into marketing by jokingly asking people to play the game so they could write it off as an expense.

The company is now reviewing its AI usage policy after the costly 'accident.'
