Ubisoft's co-founder Claude Guillemot dies in plane crash - briefly
(SABOT) 02:01 PM CEST - Jun,21 2026
Ubisoft co-founder Claude Guillemot, aged 69, died Friday evening in a plane crash near La Baule on France’s Atlantic coast.

Guillemot was piloting a twin-engine Cessna 421 with a flight instructor on board when the aircraft crashed into a field while approaching La Baule-

Both occupants were killed in the accident, which occurred in a resort town scheduled to host an air show over the weekend.

Ubisoft issued a statement expressing deep sadness, confirming Guillemot’s role as co-founder of the company (established with his brothers in 1986) and chairman of Guillemot Corp., while offering condolences to his family.

Guillemot helped build Ubisoft into a major gaming publisher behind franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry; French authorities are investigating the crash as a tragic accident.
