Windows 11 Set to Finally Fix Major GPU Crash Issues on AMD, Nvidia, and Intel - tech
(hx) 02:12 PM CEST - Jun,20 2026
Microsoft is introducing a new feature in Windows 11 that could resolve long-standing graphics driver crashes, timeouts, and hangs affecting AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs.

The solution is DirectX Dump Files (DDF), a DirectX 12 API that captures detailed snapshots of the GPU state exactly when a crash occurs.

These .dxdmp files include hardware registers, shader data, command buffers, and DirectX runtime information, helping developers diagnose problems much faster.

The feature will arrive in Windows 11 version 26H2 (fall 2026), with preview support already available for compatible hardware.

It offers three modes with different performance impacts and works for both end users and developers.

This marks a major improvement in graphics stability for Windows 11 users across all major GPU vendors.
