Louis Rossmann Threatens Samsung With Lawsuit Over Cheap SSD Refund - tech|
| (hx) 08:52 PM CEST - Jun,11 2026 |
Popular YouTuber and consumer rights activist Louis Rossmann is threatening to sue Samsung after the company offered him only $330 for a faulty 4TB 990 PRO SSD.
Rossmann sent the drive in for warranty service, but Samsung refused to replace it and instead offered a refund based on the original purchase price from nearly two years ago.
The same 4TB SSD is currently selling for around $949, meaning Rossmann would have to pay almost three times more to buy a replacement.
According to Samsung’s own warranty policy, if the company cannot repair or replace the product, it should refund the current market value at the time of the claim.
Rossmann gave Samsung a 60-day ultimatum and says he will file a lawsuit in Texas if the company does not replace the drive or pay the current retail price.

If your TV, car, whatever breaks, you are not going to get the same thing back, you need to buy a new one. Thus, it is not the original value of the item that should be refunded. | |
