Chrome 150 Kills Full uBlock Origin - Switch to Firefox or Brave Now - tech
(hx) 01:59 PM CEST - Jun,11 2026
Google Chrome version 150, expected in late June 2026, will fully end support for Manifest V2 extensions.

This removes the powerful webRequestBlocking API that the original uBlock Origin relies on for advanced, real-time ad and tracker blocking.

Google is forcing the switch to Manifest V3, which uses more limited declarativeNetRequest rules and claims to improve security and performance — but it weakens ad blockers, especially against complex ads on YouTube.

Users will lose the full strength of uBlock Origin in Chrome and must switch to the more restricted uBlock Origin Lite or move to other browsers.

Firefox continues to support the full uBlock Origin, while Brave offers strong built-in ad and tracker blocking as a Chromium-based alternative.

The long-planned transition is pushing many privacy-focused users away from Chrome toward better options.

It's hardly surprising given the fact that Google makes it living from ads and data mining -> you are the product.
I've never used Chrome and I am not about to start.
My choice has always been Firefox.
