Nintendo Confirms EU Switch 2 with User-Replaceable Battery - console|

Nintendo has officially confirmed a special revision of the Switch 2 for the European Union that will feature a **user-replaceable battery**.
This change is required to comply with the new EU Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, which mandates that batteries in portable electronics must be easily replaceable by users starting February 2027.
The EU-specific model will carry model numbers beginning with “BEE” and will be marked with an “OSM” code on the packaging to distinguish it from the standard global version.
Unlike the current Switch 2 design (where battery removal requires tools and adhesive solvents), the EU version will allow simple user replacement without special equipment.
The rest of the hardware is expected to remain identical to other regions, with the only major difference being the battery design for regulatory compliance.
