AMD Had to Fully Re-Engineer Ryzen 7 5800X3D to Revive It for AM4's 10th Anniversary - tech
(hx) 06:31 PM CEST - Jun,03 2026
AMD has officially re-released the Ryzen 7 5800X3D as a special “10th Anniversary Edition” to celebrate a decade of the AM4 platform.

However, bringing the chip back was far from simple — AMD had to undertake major re-engineering because the original TSMC first-generation SoIC stacking process used for its 3D V-Cache was no longer available.

The company adapted the design to TSMC’s newer second-generation stacking technology, requiring extensive package redesign, validation, and testing.

AMD Senior VP David McAfee confirmed it took “a whole body of engineering work” and a fair amount of development to make the revival possible.

The move responds to strong ongoing demand for high-performance AM4 systems with affordable DDR4 memory, as many users seek alternatives amid rising DDR5 costs.

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition launches on June 25 at $349 and includes a premium Carbice Ice Pad thermal interface.
