SwiftOnSecurity reminded everyone that Quake III Arena was one of the only major video games ever released with official Linux support.

The 1999 id Software shooter received a native port from Loki Entertainment, complete with physical boxed copies in a cool metal collector’s tin. Some editions even included the SuSE Linux operating system.

Back then, commercial Linux games with retail packaging were extremely uncommon. The nostalgic post has gamers sharing fond memories of early Linux gaming.
