Micron to Exit Crucial Consumer Business, Ending Retail SSD and DRAM Sales - tech|
| (hx) 11:35 PM CET - Dec,03 2025 | | Micron Technology is ending the consumer-oriented branch of Crucial — that means that by February 2026, Micron will stop selling Crucial-branded SSDs and DRAM modules to retail and distribution channels worldwide. The company says this pivot is driven by soaring demand for memory and storage solutions in AI-powered data centers, where enterprise-grade DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) are far more profitable than consumer products. While Crucial products will remain available during the transition and existing warranties will continue to be honored, Micron will funnel its capacity and R&D into enterprise and commercial segments instead of personal computing. This move marks roughly three decades of Crucial’s presence on the consumer market — a significant shift for PC builders, gamers, and anyone buying affordable RAM or SSDs. |

Like vinyl and cassette, consumers will no doubt go back to cheaper HDDs as the only viable (cheap) solution. I have a 6TB Crucial SSD only 2 years old out of 5yr warranty. I’ve had crucial since as near to the beginning of my PC hobby,I don’t know… 30 years |
