Global IT outage: 'We're deeply sorry', CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz says - tech|
| (hx) 06:08 PM CEST - Jul,19 2024 | A massive tech failure has caused travel chaos around the world, with banking and healthcare services also badly hit. Flights have been grounded because of the IT outage - a flaw which left many computers displaying blue error screens. There were long queues, delays and flight cancellations at airports around the world, as passengers had to be manually checked in. Cyber-security firm Crowdstrike has admitted that the problem was caused by an update to its antivirus software, which is designed to protect Microsoft Windows devices from malicious attacks.
CEO of Crowdstrike George Kurtz delivers an apology after global IT outage disrupts businesses including banks, airlines, train companies, telecommunications companies, TV and radio broadcasters and supermarkets.
Speaking to our partner NBC, Mr Kurtz said 'We're deeply sorry...the global issues were caused by a single faulty content update'.
He added 'That update had a software bug in it and caused an issue with the Microsoft operating system...we identified this very quickly and remediated the issue'.

CrowdStrike is a company that made software that caused the bsod within companies that were using their software when the software updated.
So unless you are running an airport, at home, of course nothing happened to your PC. | |
