Are 6 Cores Really All You Need for Gaming? It Depends

I’ve got 10 cores and 16 threads. For a cracking price and performance. I ain’t complaining. Besides multitasking means nothing to system performance.

I have 4 cores and 8 threads on a 4790K.
Everything runs fine.
I don't hold the world record? Who cares?

World record has nothing to do with it
The point is, CPUs are the cheapest upgrade and the weakest link that will bring your gaming crashing down. The best GPU isn't going to save you if your CPU doesn't cut it at the basic level.
Your CPU is now 10 years old and if what you play is fine then that's all that matters, but your not moving forward plain and simple.
it didn't for me when i started going for games that required 6 cores etc.
Graphics lowered to shitty levels didn't do anything. It wont play =simple

That's true.
However, my 4790K paired with a 3060Ti does play every title I want to nicely.
Sure, it's not with all settings set to the highest, but it's not the lowest, either.

Another "great" video. >$2000 rtx4090 @1080p. Put 4060 instead of 4090 and there wont be much of a difference even at 1080p.
