Game Pass subscribers pay extra to play Starfield early, Premium Upgrade hits top 1 - briefly|
| (hx) 09:00 AM CEST - Sep,05 2023 | Starfield's early access period, which started on August 31, has proven popular among Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Moreover, it is noticed that the $31.49 Premium Edition Upgrade, which grants early access, is currently the best-selling item on the Microsoft Stores in both the US and UK. Starfield's $99 Premium Edition holds the number 2 and 3 top-selling spots on the Xbox Live marketplace in the UK and US, respectively. This shows that many players are willing to pay the full price to play the game a few days early.
It is worth noting that a base game is required for Premium Edition Upgrade. The upgrade will receive bonus in-game items and content, including an upcoming story expansion, exclusive constellation-themed cosmetics, and, of course, early access to the full game. On the other hand, the excitement is not limited to console. Starfield has also seen high numbers on Steam, where the only way to play early is to purchase the Premium Edition. The size of the Starfield preloads is pretty hight at 116GB. Nevertheless, the early access period has driven strong sales and engagement ahead of Starfield's launch on September 5.
While it was expected that Starfield would get a big launch on Steam, the key is whether or not it will keep a large number of players online sometime after September 5.

It's a good game but the extra money for the pre-order, for people to buy the game sight unseen, feels like a money grab. Get the money up front to the maximum ability they can... It's a good Bethesda game but imo not all that. The reviews that say 7 or 8 are probably on the money, it doesn't feel next gen, it feels like Skyrim in Space. But there is definitely a lot to do. |

| Sabot | (02:56 PM CEST - Sep,05 2023 ) | Where would we be without the Beta testers out there… Same place as we are today. Nothing changes. They may not be able to put up reviews (as it’s not officially out yet) but the topics on the steam forums are a lot to digest.
They moan about buying it and yet they paid premium to buy it on top of the game (horrendous) price. When 50% off comes along, is when I’ll buy it.
Thing is if you buy a game 1 year from now, it’s the same as if you bought it on day of release. Just like buying a TV or Car. It’s *brand new* but friggin cheaper! Got to love idiots, at least they can’t keep their mouths shut after parting with the readies |

Have you seen the sniper rifle footage? Guy shoots them from range (bullet seems to take ages visually to travel - it’s space no air so no friction) and barely does any damage, then it ends up with point blank shotgun battles and it goes on for quite a while while the pirates look pretty much like bullet sponges in <cough> spacesuits! Work that one out!? Bullet proof/shotgun visors on the space helmet….. who’d have thunk it |
