Nvidia own it and refuse to share it.
WHy do you think games like Minecraft are very limited? There is no Ray Tracing in Minecraft for Xbox Series X or PS5 because Nvidia wont let them use it.
It all comes down to companies being dicks and not sharing and doing what the gamers want. We want ray tracing in our games to make them look better. they are being dicks by not sharing.
I think nvidia have the majority of PC graphics cards so thats why there is ray tracing on PC. But consoles its AMD who have the graphics cards. But the game devs I'm guessing have to pay or force nvidia to allow them to use ray tracing in their games for consoles.
Easy as that. | |

You just don’t go ‘giving’ away to direct competitors.
It’s like VR + consoles and PC. Valve VR headset. Everyone is in direct competition with each other. Game/console/PC sales are based on what headset they work on and what exclusives they can tie down. Look at the hacking of Alyx on steam to get it to work *without* VR because they wouldn’t make a non-VR version. - Again profit and sales of VR.
