NVIDIA's RTX 4080 Problem: They're Not Selling & MSRP Doesn't Exist - tech|
| (hx) 08:50 PM CET - Dec,20 2022 | The NVIDIA RTX 4080 has a problem: No one is buying it -- or at least, not enough people that board partners are feeling relief from their investment. They're on the hook for millions upon millions of dollars in inventory, and it's because NVIDIA's pricing structure is so egregiously bad that sales have finally slowed. NVIDIA got comfortable with a market where literally anything would sell, no exaggeration, and just existing would guarantee a sale. But that market is over, and now NVIDIA has an RTX 4080 problem. The other issue is that MSRP cards don't exist -- partners launched some, then stopped stocking them.

Once shortages of food and then gas and electricity prices went ballistic in Europe, do you think people have the money to line greedy incompetent companies like Nvidia. Companies around the world don’t even realise how much they rely on Europe. Both the eu and US are the worlds largest global GDP combined. If you can’t factor in a slowdown of car sales, house sales and white goods, then your a waste of time in the PC market.
Especially ridiculous power hungry units that Nvidia are producing- good luck with that, oh wait. They didn’t have any!
I have my eyes on a complete new PC end of next year. Not remotely before, because prices are insane along with food and utilities (as I’ve just said) As long as the economy is fucked so is sales. People gladly hang onto hardware longer; games are mega cheap in the sales and that’s what I’m buying.
| Csimbi | (02:06 PM CET - Dec,22 2022 ) | I've been planning my upgrade for January.
Then, I saw what rubbish is sold on the market for insane prices.
Referring not to just GPUs but CPUs, motherboard, RAM, monitors.
They are just crap made for a very specific market segment.
I have no desire for 16 cores. I want 4 cores at 6GHz, said it many times.
Motherboards are for the rich and famous and so is RAM, mobo and monitors.
Also, it seems I won't be buying any SSDs or HDDs. SSDs are too small and expensive. HDDs are too big and that makes them too expensive.
There are no decent 16:10 monitors out there and I don't want much - 27 inches, 4K@120 Hz. I would but two of these. But no; they are making tons of 16:9 shit at >200Hz.
So, nothing here for an enthusiast. It's all for those that a) don't know better or b) too rich to know better.
So, I'll just wait another year... again...
